The Three Specifications That Matter

This is the headline number and most buyers overlook it.

A 5.5kW inverter that surges to 11kVA will start motors that a nominally similar unit cannot. A 1HP water pump draws around 750W running but pulls close to 2,500W at startup. A 2HP pump can spike past 5,000W. Deep freezers, older non-inverter air conditioners and workshop machinery all behave the same way.

Many inverters in this class offer a surge rating around 1.5 times continuous, and several list a surge figure without stating how long it is sustained. Two seconds and five seconds are entirely different when a compressor is trying to start.

If your load includes anything with a motor, this specification is worth more to you than a slightly better efficiency figure.

100A MPPT charge controller

At 48V, a 100A controller can push roughly 4,800W into the battery bank. Against a maximum PV array of 6000W, that is generously sized.

Practically, it means fast recharge. On a clear morning the bank refills quickly rather than trickling through to afternoon, which matters when you have a limited solar window before the evening load starts.

The 120–450VDC MPPT window gives reasonable flexibility in string design, and Sako’s own suggested configuration is nine 330Wp panels in series at 36V, roughly 2,970Wp, run as two parallel strings.

Watch the 450V ceiling carefully. Open circuit voltage rises on cold clear mornings, and a string sized for a hot afternoon can exceed the limit at 7am in January in Islamabad or Quetta. Any competent installer runs this calculation, but ask to see it.

Battery-independent operation

The Sunon Pro powers loads directly from solar with no battery connected.

That sounds like a technicality until you are a farmer running an irrigation pump during daylight hours with no interest in buying a battery bank you would use to run nothing at night. Or a workshop operating 9am to 6pm. Or a shop that only needs cooling while it is open.

Removing the battery from the system removes the largest, most expensive and shortest-lived component. For daytime-only loads, that is a substantial saving and one very few inverters at this price properly support.

The Grid Feed-In Question

Sako markets this as a hybrid inverter, and in the sense that it manages three power sources, solar, battery and utility, it is one.

What it does not do is export to the grid. There is no net metering with a Sunon Pro. It will charge from utility at 60A or 100A, it will switch to grid when solar and battery run short, and it will transfer in 10ms so your equipment never notices. But surplus solar does not spin your meter backwards.

The IP21 Constraint

This is an indoor unit. Protection against solid objects over 12mm and vertically dripping water, nothing more.

Not a covered veranda. Not a rooftop enclosure with a tin sheet. Not a pump house that opens to a field in interior Sindh during dust season. Dust settling in the heat sink is the leading cause of inverter death in Pakistan, and IP21 offers no defence.

The temperature ceiling of +50°C is the other half. That is ambient at the unit, not outdoor shade temperature. Verify your string calculation against the 450V ceiling. Cold-morning open circuit voltage is what catches people out.
