Sako organises its inverters into families, and confusing them is the fastest way to buy the wrong box.
Sunon and Sunon IV
The base off-grid MPPT line. These run solar plus battery with no grid feed-in capability. If you have no utility connection, or you have one but it is unreliable enough that you have stopped counting on it, this is the category.
The Sunon 4.2kW at around Rs. 155,250 and the Sunon 6.2kW at around Rs. 189,750 are the volume sellers in this line. Note that they cost more than similarly rated hybrids from some competitors, which surprises people. Off-grid units in this class carry heavier charge controllers because they are expected to do all the battery work themselves, every day, without grid support.
Sunon Pro
The upgraded off-grid line, and Sako’s best-known product in Pakistan.
The Sunon Pro 3.5KW at roughly Rs. 126,500 and the Sunon Pro 5.5KW at roughly Rs. 149,500 both carry a 100A MPPT charge controller, pure sine wave output, a smart LCD with configurable working modes, charge current and charge voltage, and maximum PV array open circuit voltage of 450V.
The feature that sells them is battery-independent operation. A Sunon Pro will power your loads directly from solar with no battery connected at all. That sounds like a technicality until you are a farmer running a pump during daylight hours and have no interest in buying a battery bank you would only use to run nothing at night.
Other specifications worth knowing on the 3.5KW: maximum PV input power of 5000W, optimal PV input voltage around 360V, cold start function, overload and short circuit and deep discharge protection, USB and RS485 monitoring, with Wi-Fi remote monitoring available as an option rather than standard.
Sunpolo
The genuine hybrid line, and where Sako starts competing on net metering.
The Sunpolo 6KW at around Rs. 207,000 feeds back to the grid, carries a dual MPPT controller, has a battery-independent design, communicates over RS232, USB and RS485, includes a built-in smart BMS for lithium packs, parallels up to six units, and offers dual AC output for load prioritisation.
The Sunpolo 8KW steps up to dual 18A MPPT trackers with maximum PV input of 8000W, a touch LCD, an RGB status LED ring, and user-programmable operation modes. Sako markets the 8KW as a three-in-one unit covering on-grid, off-grid and hybrid operation.
Dual AC output is the feature most owners end up appreciating. It splits your circuits into heavy and essential, so during a night outage the inverter drops the ACs and keeps fans, lights, fridge and router running. Backup lasts hours rather than forty minutes.
Solar pump and power export inverters
Sako also makes purpose-built pump inverters with three-phase pump compatibility, and power export units for commercial net-metering installations. The pump inverters are cheap relative to their rating because they do one narrow job and skip everything else.

That positioning matters for how you should think about the brand. Where Sako wins

Verifying a Genuine Sako Unit
Counterfeit and grey-import units circulate in the Pakistani market, and Sako’s lower brand recognition makes it an easier target than the big names.
Check the series name and capacity match a real product. Sako makes Sunon, Sunon Pro, Sunon IV and Sunpolo. A “Sako Nitro 7kW” is not a thing.
Ask about warranty registration at the point of sale, and get the terms in writing.
Inspect the serial plate for clean consistent printing and a legible model code.

Installation Notes
The inverter matters less than how it is installed. Sako’s residential range is largely indoor-rated, which makes the mounting decision more consequential than usual.
Mount indoors, in a ventilated room. Not a sealed store room. Not a cupboard. The single most common way people kill an indoor-rated inverter in Pakistan is enclosing it somewhere with no airflow and letting it cook through July.
Leave manufacturer-specified clearance around the heat sink, typically 30cm above and below.
Use correct-gauge DC cable. Undersized cable causes voltage drop and heat, and it is the most frequent installation error we see in the field.
Install a proper earth rod. Not a wire tied to a plumbing pipe.
Fit surge protection on both DC and AC sides. Grid spikes destroy more inverters in this country than component failure does, and surge damage voids every warranty on the market.
